Description

  • WorkSafeNB is a Crown corporation responsible for the administration and enforcement of New Brunswick's Occupational Health and Safety Act; Workers' Compensation Act; Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission Act; and Firefighters' Compensation Act and corresponding regulations. WorkSafe NB has an agreement with Health Canada to enforce the federal Hazardous Products Act and associated regulations.
  • WHMIS is an information system for hazard communication. Its key elements are the labelling of containers of controlled/hazardous products, the provision of safety data sheets (SDSs) and worker education and site-specific training programs. In New Brunswick, Regulation 2016-6 also establishes employer responsibilities for a WHMIS program.
