Description
- Manitoba Labour and Immigration, Workplace Safety and Health administers The Workplace Safety and Health Act and its three associated regulations: the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation, the Operation of Mines Regulation, and the Administrative Penalty Regulation.
- WHMIS legislation falls under Part 35 of the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation. This Part specifies the requirements for labelling and SDSs (formerly MSDSs) as well as education and training.
- Manitoba has enforced WHMIS since its inception in 1988 and has an agreement with Health Canada to enforce the federal Hazardous Products Act (HPA) and associated regulations.

- Effective July 31, 2015, the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation – Part 35 WHMIS has been amended to align with the amended Hazardous Product Act (HPA) and Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR), which incorporate the GHS.
